{"id":22,"date":"2026-09-02T08:39:01","date_gmt":"2026-09-02T13:39:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kryllic.dev\/?p=22"},"modified":"2026-09-02T08:41:51","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T13:41:51","slug":"starting-the-20-games-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kryllic.dev\/?p=22","title":{"rendered":"Starting the 20 Games Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an effort to better familiarize myself with <a href=\"https:\/\/godotengine.org\">Godot<\/a> and escape <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freecodecamp.org\/news\/how-to-break-free-from-tutorial-hell\">tutorial hell<\/a>, I decided to start the <a href=\"https:\/\/20_games_challenge.gitlab.io\/challenge\/\">20 Games Challenge<\/a>, leaning on the (very well-written) documentation as much as possible. I decided to also do the stretch goals in an effort to make sure I was gaining as much experience as possible in each project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few self-imposed rules I set for myself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I cannot reference any YouTube videos or online tutorial guides. This defeats the purpose of this whole exercise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI cannot be used to generate any code or tell me how to write code. Its primary use is to explain aspects of the documentation that I may not fully understand in my implementation, and act more as a teacher who cannot tell me the answers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Present each game as a vertical slice, not a fully-fleged Steam-ready game. This keeps my scope narrow and defined.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each project gets a full write-up. This ensures I understand my project from beggining to end. This is the primary purpose of this blog.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once a challenge is complete, I would like to share my game online via Itch.io and this website to practice distributing and fixing bugs.
